Bird Walks

What better way to enjoy nature and the birds that inhabit our world than with a bird walk. Every month we will list walks, usually with local naturalists clubs, that highlight some of the great areas that are within a short driving distance.

Spring Walks with Cliff

On Sunday June 10 at 9:00 am ( Location to be announced) will be the last walk of the spring/ summer season.

If you are interested, please call our Abbotsford (604-852-1960) or Chilliwack stores (604-792-1239) to sign up. We are going to limit the size of the walks to a maximum of 15, this way we can have plenty of time to interact  and enjoy the birds. By going out earlier in the morning we should find the birds more active. All walks are weather permitting.

Other walks for May include:

May 7-18 - The return of the Vaux's Swifts. Although not technically a walk (and the dates are not set) it is always fun to watch the Swifts' acrobatic flight over the chimney of the old brick US Customs building in Sumas, WA. The best spot to watch for the birds is at the south end of B Street in Huntingdon from 1 hour before sunset until dark.

May 13 - Rotary Vedder Trail - Easy Trail with the Chilliwack Field Naturalists. Meet at 11 am at the SW corner of Sears at the Cottonwood Mall parking lot. Bring lunch and snacks. Contact Joachim at joachimboge@shaw.ca if you are interested.

May 21 - A Rocha - Bird Walk, 8 am to 12 noon - A walk open to all levels of birding skills at four different areas in South Surrey, Langely and White Rock. The A Rocha's Broodsdale Environmental Centre is at 19353 16th Avenue in Surrey. For more information, contact Stan Olson at 604-853-6454
